The conflict in Darfur has led to the looting and destruction of large numbers of UN offices, guesthouses and warehouses across the region, as well as the evacuation of international staff and the self-relocation of national staff. In just over four months, the conflict in neighbouring Sudan has forced a staggering number of people to cross into Chad in search of safety.

On 10 November 2013, two emergency.lu rapid deployment kits, together with 4 VSAT experts from the Luxembourg Civil Protection, were deployed to the Philippines within the framework of an IHP support mission to UNDAC/OCHA. One additional emergency.lu rapid deployment kit and one regular kit were sent from the Humanitarian Response Depot in Dubai to the Philippines in support of the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC).
