UNDAC Support via IHP for the Venezuela Earthquake Response
Following the Venezuela earthquake, Luxembourg deployed two experts to establish and operate a self-sufficient base camp for UNDAC teams supporting the humanitarian response.
Farchana Inter-Agency Hub Extension
Luxembourg and IHP partners expanded the Farchana Humanitarian Hub with new prefabs, WASH and power systems, and a kitchen to accommodate humanitarian staff responding to the Sudan crisis, following assessment missions in 2023 and construction mission in 2024.
Hurricane Beryl – IHP Support
Following Hurricane Beryl in July 2024, and through the International Humanitarian Partnership (IHP), Luxembourg supported the UNDAC response in the Caribbean.
Farchana Inter-Agency Hub
The Farchana Inter‑Agency Hub, established through IHP partners led by Luxembourg, provided a secure, self‑sufficient coordination base in eastern Chad, enabling sustained UN cross‑border humanitarian operations in response to the Darfur crisis.
Türkiye Earthquake
On 6 February 2023, at 04:17 TRT (01:17 UTC), a Mw 7.8 earthquake struck southern and central Turkey and northern and western Syria. The epicenter was 37 km (23 mi) west–northwest of Gaziantep. The earthquake had a maximum Mercalli intensity of XII (Extreme) around the epicenter and in Antakya.
Emergency Obstetric Care Hospitainers for Haiti
In response to a request from UNFPA, the Government of Luxembourg, through emergency.lu, provided a high‑impact, ready‑to‑deploy medical solution in the form of two fully equipped 20‑foot Hospitainer surgical containers. These turnkey units were designed to function as self‑contained operating theatres, capable of supporting both general and obstetric surgery in emergency settings.
Jonglei State Floods
Luxembourg deployed light base camps to flood‑isolated Jonglei, enabling accommodation and offices for aid workers, improving coordination and delivery of life‑saving assistance to over 850,000 people despite security and access challenges.
