The UNDAC Operational Partners Course, hosted in Remich, Luxembourg from 1 to 5 July, brought together 26 participants for a five-day training focused on strengthening coordination in international emergency response. Through emergency.lu, Luxembourg provided full logistical support, including training facilities, accommodation, and coordination, as well as organizing a social event visit to the Schengen Museum to encourage networking among participants.
Facilitated by OCHA’s Response Support Branch (RSB), the course is designed to familiarize operational and associated partners with the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) system and its role within the global humanitarian architecture. Participants include experts from NGOs, governments, the private sector, UN agencies, and regional organizations, reflecting the diversity of actors involved in emergency response.
The training focuses on how partners effectively integrate into UNDAC missions, contributing specialized expertise in areas such as logistics, ICT, mapping, and assessment. Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, participants strengthen their understanding of coordination mechanisms, operational methodologies, and collaboration in rapidly evolving crisis environments.
The aim of the course is to equip participants with the knowledge and readiness to operate alongside UNDAC teams, ensuring that their expertise contributes effectively to coordinated, timely, and efficient humanitarian responses.
