Facts

The “Let’s Comm” training, hosted in Luxembourg, brought together 12 participants from around the world to strengthen practical skills in radio communications for emergency operations. Through emergency.lu, Luxembourg ensured comprehensive logistical support, including training facilities, accommodation, and the provision of technical equipment, creating a highly effective learning environment.

Facilitated by the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC), and supported by two trainers provided by Luxembourg, the course focuses on hands-on technical expertise in deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting VHF/UHF radio systems. Participants work with standard UN security communication equipment, including ICOM and Motorola radios, applying operational standards in realistic scenarios.

The training emphasizes a mindset of technical quality, thorough testing, and strong customer service, ensuring that communication systems are reliable and fit for purpose during emergencies.

The aim of the course is to equip participants with the practical skills and professional approach required to establish and maintain robust communication systems, which are critical for effective coordination and safety in humanitarian response operations.
