Following the devastating double earthquake that struck Venezuela in June 2026, Luxembourg mobilised emergency assistance through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) to support the humanitarian response and the restoration of critical services in the affected areas.
As part of the deployment, emergency.lu stockpile assets including earthquake generators and high-performance humanitarian tents were donated by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg through the UCPM. The equipment is intended to support emergency response operations, provide temporary shelter capacity and ensure the availability of reliable power supply for humanitarian actors operating in the disaster zone.

The relief items arrived at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Caracas aboard Luxembourg’s A400M military transport aircraft, CT-01. The aircraft is jointly operated by the Luxembourg Armed Forces and the Belgian Air Component (Armée de l’Air et de l’Espace belge), reflecting the close operational cooperation between the two countries.
The donation was formally handed over to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela during a ceremony held at the airport in the presence of Raúl Li Causi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Caribbean. The handover marked the official transfer of the Luxembourg-provided assistance to the Venezuelan authorities for onward distribution and operational use in the affected regions.

In addition to transporting the relief cargo, the A400M deployment also brought two additional Luxembourgish emergency management experts to Venezuela. Their mission is to support the ongoing United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) operation under the framework of the International Humanitarian Partnership (IHP). Working alongside international and national counterparts, the experts will contribute to coordination efforts, operational planning and the assessment of priority humanitarian needs.
