Facts

In response to flooding risks caused by rising water levels of the Euphrates River in Raqqa and Deir ez‑Zor, Luxembourg provided emergency shelter assistance to support affected populations. The intervention drew on resources from the national humanitarian stockpile, enabling a rapid and targeted response to emerging needs.

Luxembourg supplied family tents, ensuring that displaced households had access to safe and dignified temporary shelter. These tents were deployed to help accommodate families forced to leave their homes due to flooding or at risk of displacement, contributing to immediate protection and basic living conditions in a deteriorating humanitarian context.

By mobilizing pre‑positioned relief items, Luxembourg was able to react quickly and efficiently, supporting humanitarian partners on the ground in addressing urgent shelter needs. This intervention highlights the importance of preparedness and stockpiling in enabling timely assistance during sudden-onset crises.

Through this support, Luxembourg contributed to mitigating the humanitarian impact of environmental hazards and to strengthening the resilience of vulnerable communities affected by flooding in northeast Syria.
