The UNHCR IT Emergency Management Training 2023, hosted in Remich, Luxembourg from 4 to 14 December, brought together 35 participants for an intensive eleven-day programme. Luxembourg, through emergency.lu, ensured comprehensive logistical support, including training facilities, accommodation, and coordination at the CEFOS site, creating a dynamic and immersive learning environment.

Designed specifically for UNHCR personnel, the training focused on strengthening capabilities in managing IT systems and services in emergency contexts, particularly in support of refugee response operations. The programme combined theoretical foundations with practical application, covering key aspects of IT emergency preparedness, deployment, and operational continuity.

Through hands-on exercises, simulations, and case studies, participants gained valuable experience in addressing real-world challenges, enhancing their ability to respond effectively to complex and rapidly evolving crises. The training also emphasized coordination, adaptability, and problem-solving in field environments.

The aim of the training is to equip UNHCR staff with the knowledge and practical skills needed to manage IT emergencies efficiently, ensuring reliable systems and communication support for humanitarian assistance.
