Facts

Category 5 Tropical Cyclone Pam hit Vanuatu on 14 March 2015 with winds of up to 250 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 350 kilometers per hour, causing widespread devastation across the country.

At the request of the Government, the ETC responded to Cyclone Pam with services and ICT coordination assistance. As an ETC partner, the Government of Luxembourg deployed emergency.lu to support the operations in Tanna island. One regular deployment kit provided connectivity to humanitarian organisations and the Government of Vanuatu.

A Luxembourg Civil Protection team, initially deployed with the International Humanitarian Partnership (IHP) to support the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination team (UNDAC), installed the system.
