On Tuesday, 7 March 2017, Cyclone Enawo made landfall in north-east Madagascar, with heavy rains and winds reaching up to 300km/h. Thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes due to damage caused by the cyclone.
The ETC has not been activated in Madagascar but the World Food Programme (WFP), as global lead of the ETC, is leading response efforts with ETC members.
Internet connectivity was provided for humanitarian actors at the Antalaha District Office in Antalaha and the Maroansetra District Office in Maroansetra using emergency.lu satellite kits.
The kits were installed by two Luxembourg Civil Protection volunteers dispatched to the disaster area on 14 March 2017.
